UNICON is the world championships unicycling. The 22th edition was held in Steyr, Austria.

DM Trials was great fun

Going in I didn’t really know what to expect, since I’d never been there before. But looking back it was really great! DM Trials was great fun and a very well organised event. The location is just awesome and inspirational, and the vibe was amazing.

GUC 2026 was amazing!

This German Unicycle Championship (GUC 2026) looked a bit different than usual this year. Instead of the competitions being spread out over two days, we got both Flatland and Street in the skatepark on Saturday, with a bunch of workshops scheduled for Friday-evening and Sunday. The whole weekend it was really, really hot.

UFO Trials was a very nice weekend

Team Unicycle Forever organised the first ever edition of the open Dutch trial nationals. It was part of the OnTrack in Tilburg (NL), a huge festival promoting Street Culture and Urban Sports.

Dutch Unicycle Track Nationals (NKE)

The Dutch Unicycle Track Nationals of 2026 were great fun. The day consisted of eight disciplines; 50m one footed, 100m, 800m, 5km, 10km unlimited, Longjump, IUF Slalom and 10m slow. Main interest: 10K and Longjump To be honest, I really didn’t train track at all this year.

Winter-EUC 2026

The first big event of the year is the Winter-EUC (indoor EUC). It means catching up with a lot of international friends again after the winter. I had a really good time at this edition of the Extreme Unicycle Championships.

Judging the annual Unicycle Video Awards Contest

At the end of the year the annual Unicycle Video Awards Contest takes place via live-streaming. I was invited to help judge this year's productions.

Dutch magazine – Gouden Sportkoers

On December 10 I was invited to sports-cafe in my hometown of Zwolle where local sport-heroes were celebrated. The 2025 edition of the Dutch magazine – “Gouden Sportkoers”was also launched. In the magazine I’m featured in a spread on pages 36-37.

Member of the RideOne family

Recently I joined German team RideOne. I’m really grateful for this opportunity and I hope that I will be a worthy member of the team. I’m looking forward to represent RideOne at competitions in the adult female category and to learn new things. It still feels a bit unreal to be a part of RideOne.

My Coupe de France de Monocycle 2025

Coupe de France de Monocycle (CFM) is always a great competition as it offers a lot of different unicycle disciplines. This year I competed in Trials, Street and Flat. And because we were there anyways, I also decided to join slalom, long- and high jump, uphill and cross-country.

Belgian Urban Unicycle Championships 2025

Time for the Belgian Urban Unicycle Championships 2025, or BUC 2025 as we call it. The 5th edition, so a special one. I really enjoyed seeing everyone. I had a lot of fun and the vibe was as usual amazing in the famous HAL5. I was in my zone and scored amazing results.

Goodbye Team Unicycle Forever

As some of you already know, a few weeks ago I decided to leave Unicycle Forever Team. I’ve had an amazing (almost) three years, full of learning, fun, and wonderful friendships. I’m very thankful to Roos and the team for all the help and the great times.

Awesome GUC Trials 2025!

It was my first time there and I enjoyed it a lot. The obstacles seemed really hard at first, and it really pushed me out of my comfort zone. But I ended up landing a lot more than I expected! I had some awesome GUC Trials 2025!

UF Training Duisburg

This weekend we had a two-day UF training-camp in Duisburg. We got there on Friday and rode flatland together with some friends from team RideOne. We rode at a really nice spot, on the grounds of a closeddown steel-factory. I relanded my inflip and started working on some new tricks.

EUC 2025 in Miskolc Hungary

The Extreme Unicycle Championships (EUC) were held in Miskolc in Hungary this year. I had an amazing time and am very, very happy with my results. Overall it was super fun. Miskolc – Factory Arena The Factory Arena is an amazing location for any Urban-sport.

Looking back at GUC 2025

The German Unicycle Championships of 2025 were so, so nice. I learned new things in the workshops and had a lot of fun in the competitions. I also really enjoyed spending time with my friends, my teammates of Unicycle Forever and seeing so many unicyclists in one place again!

My first 10Km in Denmark

Rode my first 10K race in Denmark, organised by Jægerspris Cykelartister at Jægerspris in Sjælland (Zealand or Zeeland as it’s called in Dutch). Denmark is a cool country, with awesome people, meaning that if you throw in a unicycle it almost like paradise. The weather was really lovely. In all a very cool trip.

400Kms in 24 hours on a unicycle

The great Lisanne Boer unicycled 24 hours continuously to raise money for Rene Kids Centre She broke the world record for female and achieved a total distance of 412 kms. Just imagine that: unicycling over 400 kms on your trusty 36″, in one full day, without sleep. Amazing achievement by an amazing athlete.

June 29: Speeltuin Assendorp, Zwolle

On June 29 you can enjoy performances in unique locations throughout the Netherlands. Can be in someone’s living room or garden, in a theater or at a historic location. With TaleSpinners we’ll be playing our festival-show Raw Stoked at the most beautiful playground the city of Zwolle has to offer: Speeltuin Assendorp.

Dutch Unicycle Championships 2025

The Dutch unicycle road championships (NKE) were a lot of fun. For the first time in years we competed on a different track. The “Pijnenburg Parcours” in Tilburg is really nice. Is part of a huge sport-park in a very green natural area with streams and such. Really nice.

June 28: Raw Stoked at Gouda Leeft

With the TaleSpinners we will be playing our 30 minute festival gig Raw Stoked in the beautiful Dutch city of Gouda. Yes, that’s the city that gave the world the famous Gouda Cheese. Festival ‘Gouda Leeft’ is part of ‘De Goudse Popweek’. Saturday June 28 you will find us at:

Hammertime

I was invited to play a halftime unicycle show during the basketbal play offs at the Landstede sportscenter in Zwolle, The Netherlands. It was an awesome experience to be able to perform Hammertime for such a big growd in a truly amazing atmosphere. Thanks Hammers and see you next season!

Training for Hammertime

Will be performing the halftime-show on my unicycle during the basketbal play off’s in Zwolle, The Netherlands. I have named it Hammertime as a tribute to my hosts. It took quite some designing to get my show right, as the Landstede Sportcenter is pretty big. I had to include unicycle-basketball of course.

Festival in Winterswijk was cool

So, we played our first festival-show and it was quite an experience. I really mean that: we learned a lot. We had lots of fun, it was very educational and very cool. Normally in theaters We normally play theaters, meaning that we more or less have the stage for our selves.

Introducing TaleSpinners

As from today – somewhere last week actually – we will be playing our performances under the artist name ‘TaleSpinners’. We tell stories by spinning a unicycle, so it makes total sense. We even have a website for TaleSpinners, so it’s getting serious.

A fluey STOKED!

Played STOKED! at Theater Joseph Wresinski Cultuur Stichting in my hometown of Zwolle (NL). Had been in bed for over a week with a harsh flue and thus had little rehearsal-time. Was quite anxious because of it, but it went reasonably well.

St. Valentine’s unicycle fun

Cirqulinair 2025

Cirqulinair 2025 is a classic variety-show experienced in the city of Groningen between February 6 and March 9 2025. It mixes circus, danse and music with a good three-course meal. They offer both vegan as well as meat-options.

LAUCC in Colombia

The Latin American Championship 2025 is coming and will be held in El Salvador. I was really looking forward to going there and saved for it, but due to theater-obligations I can’t make it. A real pity as the vibe and people there are really, really cool.

STOKED! in Gouda

In Gouda we played three 30 minute shows introducing the full show of STOKED! All the unicycle-tricks and lots of singing was quite intensive. But it was great fun and I learned a lot. Especially during the third show that was full of audience-interaction.

UFO 2025 unicycle-convention

My unicycle is spinning the 540 unispin, but then I make an error with the placement of my feet. My left foot lands on the crank just fine, but my dumb right foot totally misses it. But it isn’t over yet.

FEB 2: STOKED! in Gouda

On February 2 we will be performing STOKED! as part of Festival Gluren bij de Buren at De Bernhardhof in Gouda. At this accessible location we will be playing three 30-minute shows, all in English, free admission. Start-times: See you there!! More information via this link.

Thanks 2024

2024 was an awesome unicycle year. Learned a lot. Met incredible people. Did muni for the first time ever, at Laucc in Colombia of all place. What an experience that was! Had some great personal bests. High jump over bar at CFM in France: 60cm.

The arrival of Sinterklaas

Sinterklaas is a traditional celebration in the Dutch speaking world. It brings warmth, gifts and candy. The arrival of Sinterklaas is all over the country a big thing. I assisted Sinterklaas a couple of days.

STOKED! At ROC 2024

STOKED! Is a music-theatershow about Esther who has one passion: the unicycle. It’s non-biographical, with the exception of the unicycle-part. LOL. I play Esther, while professional actress Ksenia Marasanova plays other parts, like Esther’s mother and all kinds of people Esther encounters on the street.

Face the future

Hans Klok is one of the best illusionists in the world. His stage-presence and energy-levels are just awesome. His last show is called ‘Face the Future’ and is nothing short of mind-blowing (and really funny). I experienced the show in Capitole in Gent. Mind-blowing The opening is wild.

Music in STOKED!

For the new musical theater performance STOKED! we wrote everything ourselves. That includes the music and all the songs. And by “we” I’m talking about a broad team of creators: songwriters, composer, musicians, arranger, etc. It’s a super interesting process, which usually starts with lyrics.

New theatershow STOKED!!

My first truly English spoken and sung show about stuff every teenager deals with. STOKED! is a music theater show with a lot of circus and unicycling, and all original music. Duration is 60 minutes. I perform together with actress/singer Ksenia Marasanova who has played over 150 solo-shows during the past years alone.

3 x personal best

Have an amazing first quarter of the unicycle worldchampionships in the USA. So far I scored three personal bests, resulting in three medals: 2 x Silver, 1 x Bronze. 10K roadrace unlimited: Silver In the 10K unlimited I raced un-geared to 27:27.

Unicon in Bemidji

Here I’m with thousands of unicyclists in Bemidji for the start of Unicon21. We just experienced the impressive openingsceremony for the Worldchampionships of Unicycling. We paraded with our Uni’s through town and had spontaneous meet and greets. This Unicon in Bemidji is the 21st time the Worldchampionships are held.

Joannes Sk8 Park in Green Bay

On our way to the world championship of unicycling in Bemidji, we stayed a few days in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The city is almost as big as my homecity in The Netherlands and just as peaceful and green. It’s a lovely place.

Landed my first ever 540 Unispin at GUC

The German Unicycle Championship of 2024 was great. Eh no … it was beyond great. Had a fantastic time with my friends, completed the tricks I wanted in the competition and – DRUMROLL – landed my first ever 540 Unispin at GUC!

Let’s talk Unicon 21 a bit

Unicon 21 is still a few weeks away, but as we have a some challenges ahead I’m preparing a few things in advance to avoid last minute surprises. Luggage of course is a big thing, just as getting there.

My unicycle crash

Here I am overthinking my unicycle crash. It happened while I was still warming up. I didn’t do any strange or tricky stunts. I was just cycling a bit, but somehow I managed to fall. Didn’t really hurt myself but such an expected crash always comes as a shock.

Sunny Leiden

Yes folks, after months of rain we suddenly had a dry and windless day. It was quite a shock as I didn’t recognise the sun at first too. But that gold stain in the sky made it possible to train on the streets of Leiden with my friend Julia. We practiced some jumps and flips.

Participated in the Open Dutch Championships 2024 and had a great time. Scored a lot of personal bests and had a brilliant day with my friends. The Open Dutch Unicycle Championships (NKE) once was my first unicycle-event ever.

My circustheater-act Eaters

Took some time, but I finally made a promo for my circustheater-act Eaters. I have played the acts tenths of times. Lost count. I have played Eaters at outdoor and indoor festivals, and in theaters, churches, synagogues, schools and did even a show for TV.

Training for Open Dutch Unicycling Championships 2024

On June 1st the Open Dutch Unicycle Championships are held. And the organisation was cool enough to organize a formal training day to train 10M slow, slalom, long jump and the start of sprint. It was a great day that started with a cool warming up organised by Lindsey and Elize. And some relaxed unicycling.

Rotterdam Circusstad 2024

The Circusstad Gala was a two hour show that really knocked my socks off. It had a great series of unbelievable acts.

Show for Liberation Day in Venlo

For liberation day (May 5) we played the music-theater show Arum dem Fayer in Venlo. Before the show I practised spins and rolls on my unicycle. After the show onstage we enjoyed a liberation-meal with part of the audience.

Glorious Bodies – Circumstances

Glorious Bodies is a show by artists between 55 and 67 years old. It’s about getting older in the show the artist go through several phases. First they deny it and try to hide it. They try to avoid the limelight.

Acrobot – Daniel Simu

Acrobot is a clever act based around a programmable robot. When I mention robot you should think about a factory-robot, a machine that acts in a pre-programmed way. So it’s not (yet?) a robot with intelligence (like R2D2) or gyroscopes (like a gimbal). Acrobot starts with a high tec sales pitch.

Circ’Olé – Flamengo, circus and comedy

Circ’Olé was sheer fun. It’s a lovestory with good music and some nice dans, aerial and acrobatics. Packed in a small theater everything happens right In front of you. There is a lot of audience participation and some really good showmanship. It featured flying guitars and flamingo pingpong. Awesome! Olé! More Circusstad 2024:

Shenanigans

Shenanigans is a show by Henri and Batist about imagination and art in a world dominated by tech and screens. It’s highly interactive with the audience with balls flying all over the place. And a racecar literally racing through the audience. It’s a great show about the necessity of playing while growing up.

Kathrin Wagner – I was told

At the Rotterdam Circusstad festival I saw “I was told” by Kathrin Wagner. It was an interesting show about equality and feminism. It started slow and witty with a balance-act with one ring (to rule ‘m all, haha, just kidding). That transformed into juggling with 7, with a lot of interaction with the audience.

Aloft – Brave Space

At Rotterdam Circusstad Festival (2024 edition) I saw a lot of acts and shows. Really, really loved the whole festival, including the Circusstad Gala. For me the best show is Brave Space by Aloft. The acting, co-operation and that intimate setting in the tent, all with the light, music and really great acrobatics.
