Cirqulinair 2025
Cirqulinair 2025 is a classic variety-show experienced in the city of Groningen between February 6 and March 9 2025. It mixes circus, danse and music with a good three-course meal. They offer both vegan as well as meat-options. And they offer special shows for the visually – and audible impaired and even have options for people with tiny budgets. Both meal and show are very good, but tickets sell out fast, so you better be quick!
I visited the opening on Feb 6 and was anxious to find out if they had put in a unicycle-act this year. All that show, strong acrobatics and music and then starting with the unicycle? Yes, that’s me. I like a good show, but I love a nice unicycle act, so it is that simple.
Contrary to last year the 2025 show features a unicycle act by Tobias van Vliet. Even two or – depending on definitions – maybe even three or four. It’s beautifully done, very stylish.
Cirqulinair is always strong with Aerials. This year is no difference. Or maybe it is different as the acts are really spectacular. Anna Saskia truly is next level. She keeps on hanging.
Cirqulinair have moved to a different location, that might be a bit harder to find (for someone not living in Groningen), but it gives them a lot more space and (I think) a little bit more height. Because of space the stage is a true circle. It’s high up, great for everyone to see, yet still in your face.
Juggling is often present in shows of Cirqulinair. This year there are acts with balls and hoops. Jonas Alich’s hoop-act is really elegant, mysterious even. Very, very nice. He also performs a very cool duo diabolo-act with Anna Saskia.
And of course there are a lot of group-acts with the whole ensemble going all out. Both on stage, as in between the dining tables. With and without musical instruments. It is very entertaining to watch.
The chair-acrobatics by Salim Yusuf is also next-level. And Roos Hermanides’ knife-act is sheer fun. There is plenty of live music by Remko Wind, live singing by Jasmijn Rubingh. And then there is Larissa. She plays the Ukulele. Kind of. But also makes sure that the right food is routed to the right table, so very important. And she runs the audio- and light-cues (like I do in some theatershows).
Between the acts the artists serve the food. They are supported by a very attentive staff of waiters. The three course meals is large enough and has some cool taste-combinations. I had the meat-option which was really good. The people around me had vegan and told me it was very tasteful too. Might try that next time if I can fit another visit in my schedule (and tickets are still available). There are drinks (soda by Fritz) and a selection of wines and beer. Cirqulinair is nothing short of a really terrific evening.
