3 x personal best

Have an amazing first quarter of the unicycle worldchampionships in the USA. So far I scored three personal bests, resulting in three medals: 2 x Silver, 1 x Bronze.

10K roadrace unlimited: Silver

In the 10K unlimited I raced un-geared to 27:27. That’s almost half a minute faster than my old personal best which I raced during the Dutch Championships on June 1. It got me a Silver Medal in the age-group 10-18. Improving that personal best was one of my maingoals for this Unicon, so check in the box.

I had a lovely race on a beautiful track following the shoreline of lake Bemidji. I was allowed to start in Wave 2, with the elite group of female riders. They are much older than I am, but I was able to battle the sub-top till the finish line. And that in warm conditions on a track with a twisty last mile. Awesome and totally happy with the result.

Longjump on platform: Bronze

Thanks to fanatical support from my teammate Cora and my coach Roos Seegers I jumped 1.40M and almost even made 1.45M. It was scary, but in the end I nailed it. A great personal best.

Highjump on platform: Silver.

After the first series of jumps I ended in second place together with two other girls (Cora from Germany and one from Taiwan). It meant that we had to jump a tie-break. It’s a sudden death type of competition where the height goes up and up and if you fail the jump you are out. I wasn’t looking forward to the jump-off as I had raced the 10Km earlier that day and already performed a round of jumps and the long jump. Both my competitors didn’t race the 10K, so I started somewhat at a disadvantage. Or was nicely warmed up, depending on how you look at it. I was very, very tired, but somewhere I found the energy to jump that personal best when I needed it. It got me a nice second place.

Tomorrow I have a relaxed day. Will be training a bit and catch up with homeschool. And later in the week I have Speedtrials and Flatland.
