The great Lisanne Boer unicycled 24 hours continuously to raise money for Rene Kids Centre She broke the world record for female and achieved a total distance of 412 kms. Just imagine that: unicycling over 400 kms on your trusty 36″, in one full day, without sleep. Amazing achievement by an amazing athlete.
Of course I unicycled a fews laps with her in support. I chose to do it at night, or – like we say in Dutch – during the “Hondenwacht”. That is the timeframe between 00:00 and 04:00, when it’s pitch black and you are all alone. It was an amazing experience and I really had to step on it to keep up. But it was the first time in my life that I actually could keep up with her hahaha. I only did 4 laps at apx. 20km/h, she did 149 at an everage speed of 17.44 km/h.
Let that sink in for a moment: 24 hours straight at 17.44 km/h. One person, on an ungeared 36″ unicycle. What a power-lady!
