Time for the Belgian Urban Unicycle Championships 2025, or BUC 2025 as we call it. The 5th edition, so a special one. I really enjoyed seeing everyone. I had a lot of fun and the vibe was as usual amazing in the famous HAL5. I was in my zone and scored amazing results.
As I recently turned 15, I really was looking forward to riding in the adult category for the first time. But at BUC the junior category is until 16 instead, so I’ll have to wait a little bit longer for that. Of course I still had loads of fun, and riding in the adult category will come soon enough haha.
Flatland

On Saturday was Flatland. I qualified into the finals together with my friends Paula and Diana. In the finals we had a very nice three-way battle, in which we all landed some pretty cool tricks. I got pretty close to landing a new last trick, but after 2 failed attempts I decided to go with a safer option instead.
Slalom
On Sunday was trials and the slalom. In the trial preliminaries I had a lot of fun with the trial-lines. Maybe a little too much because I ended up with a flat tire about two-thirds of the time in. But thankfully my parents professionally fixed it, while I continued on my flatland uni. I ended up qualifying for the female trial finals later that day.
After the trial preliminaries I went outside to do my slalom. I happened to have my racing uni with me because we’re going to the French Championships directly afterwards. Even though slalom is definitely not something I seriously practice for I’m not gonna pass on the opportunity to just ride it for fun.
Trials
Then it was time for the trial finals. We were with three women. Sophie Unz, Roos Seegers, and me. Going in the lines all looked pretty difficult to me. I didn’t really know what to expect from myself, but at that moment only 2 out of the 6 lines actually looked doable.
Hal 5 is a pretty crazy place. The music, all of the super supportive people and the overall vibe really get you into this zone. I ended up doing all 6 of the lines. With a total of 2 pedalgrabs. Roos and I ended with the same amount of points, but because I had gotten there just a little bit faster I took the first place in the trial finals.
Overall it was a pretty crazy weekend. Thanks to the organization and the volunteers for making this happen! And thanks to everyone for the really great times <3
See you soon!
